Question

Kindly provide the reference for the following:

‘Umar ibnul Khattab (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said: “I don’t worry about whether my du’a will be answered; I only worry about making the du’a properly. When I am granted the ability to supplicate, the answer comes along with it.”

Answer

‘Allamah Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) has cited this statement of Sayyiduna ‘Umar ibnul Khattab (radiyallahu ‘anhu). ‘Allamah ibn Qayyyim Al Jawziyyah (rahimahullah) has also cited it in several of his books.

Sayyiduna ‘Umar ibnul Khattab (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said: “My concern is not with the acceptance of du’a, but with making the supplication. When I am granted the ability to make du’a, its acceptance accompanies it.”
