Question
Recently whilst reading Hadith I have come across a scholar named Imam Busiri who has graded many Hadiths. I have been unable to find the biography of this Scholar and therefore I am unable to confirm his reliability. Can you please tell me a bit about him and whether his gradings are reliable.
Answer
Imam Shihabud Din, Ahmad ibn Abi Bakr Al-Busiri (rahimahullah) was a reliable Shafi’i Muhaddith who lived in the ninth century of Islam.
He was a student of ‘Allamah ‘Iraqi (rahimahullah) and a contemporary of Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah).
He passed away in Muharram of the year 840 A.H.
He authored several Hadith related books, among them is his famous work on Sunan Ibn Majah entitled: ‘Misbahuz Zujajah, fi Zawaid Ibn Majah’.
Another of his Master pieces is Ithaful Khiyaratil Maharah, and its concise version: Mukhtasar Ithafus Sadatil Maharah.
Many who quote his rulings on Hadith source them from the above two books.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
