Question

I am looking for this Hadith with this particular wording:

صل من قطعك واعف عمّن ظلمك واحسن الي من أساء اليك

Translation: Join ties with those who cut off ties with you, pardon those who oppress you and be good to those who evil to you.

Answer

I have not come across these words as one Hadith in any primary Hadith source. This seems to be a combination of the following Hadiths:

1) Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “O ‘Uqbah! Join ties with those who cut off ties with you, give those who deprive you, and turn away from  those who oppress you”

(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 4, pg. 148)

2) Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “O ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir! Join ties with those who cut off ties with you, give those who deprive you, and forgive those who oppress you”

(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 4, pg. 148)

3) Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) had a piece of cloth attached to the pommel of his sword on which the following words were inscribed: “Join ties with those who sever ties with you, do good to those who harm you and speak the truth even if it is against you”

(Juz’ of Abu ‘Ali ibn Shadhan, Refer: At Talkhisul Habir, vol. 4 pg. 1897)

4) Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) told me, “Should I not show you the noblest character of this world and the Hereafter? [It is:] Joining ties with those that sever ties, and that you give those who deprive you and pardon those who oppress you,”

(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 5563)

5) Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Join ties with those who cut off ties with you and pardon those who oppress you”

(Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 7585)
