What is meant by the words in Sahih Muslim “Akhrij ba’than nar” which Allah Ta’ala will tell Adam (‘alayhis salam)?

Answer

You are referring to the lengthy Hadith in Sahih Muslim wherein Allah Ta’ala will say to Adam (‘alayhis salam) to bring forth those destined for Jahannam.

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 222)

The translation of “Akhrij ba’than nar” is, “Bring forth those destined for Jahannam”.

The Hadith goes on to mention that for every thousand destined for Jahannam from the previous nations, only one from this Ummah will be destined for Jahannam. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) then said, I fervently desire that half of Jannah be from my Ummah.
