In Mirqatul Mafatih sometimes when discussing details about a rawi Mullah ‘Ali Qari says ذكره المؤلف .

Who is المؤلف?

Answer

المؤلف translates as “The author”

In this instance, it refers to the author of Mishkatul Masabih; ‘Allamah Muhammad ibn ‘Abdillah Al-Khatib Tibrizi (rahimahullah), who has a book entitled: Al-Ikmal fi Asmair Rijal, which is published at the end of the Mishkat. In this section the author provides brief biographies of the Sahabah and Tabi’un that are mentioned in Mishkat itself, in addition to the bios of the famous authors of Hadith.
