What is the meaning of ‘mujahir’ in the following Hadith?

كل أمتي معافاة إلا المجاهرين وإن من الإجهار أن يعمل العبد بالليل عملا ثم يصبح قد ستره ربه فيقول: يا فلان قد عملت البارحة كذا وكذا وقد بات يستره ربه فيبيت يستره ربه ويصبح يكشف ستر الله عنه

 

Answer

This Hadith is recorded in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. ‘Mujahir’ refers to the person who exposes and announces his sins whereas Allah has concealed it. The Hadith in question explicitly mentions this.
