Is this statement authentic?

Sa’id ibnul Musayyab (rahimahullah) said: “Had I testified in favour of anyone that he is from the inhabitants of Jannah, I would have testified in favour of Ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).”

Answer

Imam Baghawi (rahimahullah) and others have recorded this statement of Sa’id ibnul Musayyab (rahimahullah).

Sa’id ibnul Musayyab (rahimahullah) said: “If I were to testify in favour of someone that he is from the inhabitants of Jannah, I would have testified in favour of ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).”

Hafiz Ibn Hajar Al ‘Asqalani (rahimahullah) has declared the chain sound (hasan).
