باب من العلم يحفظه الرجل يطلب به صلاح نفسه وصلاح الناس أفضل من عبادة حول كامل

 

Answer

This narration is recorded as the statement of the famous Tabi’i; Qatadah ibn Di’amah (rahimahullah) in Musnad Ibnul Ja’d, Hilyatul Awliya and Jami’u Bayanil ‘Ilmi Wa Fadlihi.

Qatadah Ibn Di’amah (rahimahullah) said: “One chapter of knowledge that a person memorises/preserves for his own rectification and for the betterment of people [after him], is better than performing [voluntary] worship for an entire year.”

The narration in question is suitable to quote as the statement of Qatadah ibn Di’amah (rahimahullah).
