Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) said:
‘Whoever sends one salutation upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam), Allah and His Angels send seventy salutations on him.
This Hadith is recorded by Imam Ahmad (rahimahullah) in his Musnad, vol.2 pg.172.
‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) has graded it sound (hasan). He has also stated that this statement of the Sahabi (radiyallahu’anhu) will be understood as being acquired from Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) (marfu’ hukman) as the topic isn’t derivable from mere intellect.
(Al-Qawlul Badi’, pg.237)
‘Allamahs Mundhiri and Haythami (rahimahumallah) have also graded the chain as sound (hasan).
(Targhib, Hadith: 2470 and Majma’uz Zawaid, vol.10 pg.160)
‘Allamah Sindi (rahimahullah) has stated that, although the famous Hadiths mention ten blessings for one salutation, it is possible that Allah Ta’ala increased the reward later to further honour Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam).
(Hashiyatus Sindi ‘alal Musnad, Hadith: 6605)
