Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration as the statement of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said: “Iblis wailed when Surah Fatihah was revealed…”

(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 4785)

‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared the narrators reliable (رجال الصحيح) and states that this resembles a narration of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) (شبيه المرفوع) [i.e., Although the Hadith should be quoted as the statement of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) it should be understood that he heard this from Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) as the nature it not such that he could have made applying his own logic].

(٤٧٨٥) – حدثنا عبيد بن غنام قال: نا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة قال: نا أبو الأحوص، عن منصور، عن مجاهد، عن أبي هريرة: «أن إبليس رن حين أنزلت فاتحة الكتاب، وأنزلت بالمدينة»
لم يرو هذا الحديث عن منصور إلا أبو الأحوص، تفرد به: أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة.

وعن أبي هريرة: «أن إبليس رن حين أنزلت فاتحة الكتاب، وأنزلت بالمدينة».
رواه الطبراني في «الأوسط» شبيه المرفوع، ورجاله رجال الصحيح.
