Question

I would like to know the status of the Hadith narrator Yahya ibn Muslim Al Basri.

 

Answer

The Muhaddithun have mentioned that they are unaware of his credibility. Imam Abu Zur’ah (rahimahullah) said, “I don’t know who he is.” (لا أدري من هو). Other Muhaddithun have declared him unknown (majhul).
