Question

What is the reference of this narration and is it suitable to quote?

زمزم لما شربت له إن شربته تريد الشفاء شفاك الله وإن شربته تريد أن يقطع ظماك قطعه وإن شربته تريد أن تشبعك أشبعتك

Answer

Imam ‘Abdur Razzaq (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration as the statement of Mujahid ibn Jabr (rahimahullah).

Mujahid (rahimahullah) said: “Zam-Zam is [suitable] for whatever purpose you drink it for. If you drink it seeking a cure, Allah will cure you. If you drink it to quench your thirst, it will quench you. If you drink it to satiate you, it will satiate you. It is the [prod] of Jibril (‘alayhis salam) [i.e., Jibril ‘alayhis salam struck his heel on the ground and the water began to flow] and the drink of Allah provided for Isma’il (‘alayhis salam).”

(Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq: 9124)

The narration is suitable to quote.
