What is the status of the Hadith wherein Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) gave the glad tidings of the conquest of Constantinople?

Answer

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) is reported to have said:

“Soon Constantinople will be defeated, how wonderful will be the leader and the army (that conquers Constantinople).”

(Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4, pg. 422 and Musnad Ahmad, vol. 4, pg. 335)

Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic and Hafiz Dhahabi (rahimahullah) concurs. Also see Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 6, pg. 218
