الدنيا جيفة فمن أرادها فليصبر على مخالطة الكلاب

This narration appears in Hilyatul Awliya as the statement of Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu).
Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said: “The world is a corpse/carrion. Whoever desires it must endure mixing with dogs.” [i.e., dogs gather around a carcass, each trying to get a share. In the same way, a person who is always chasing worldly gain will have to put up with the company of other greedy people]
