Answer

This Hadith is recorded in the following Hadith collections with a weak chain:

Ibn Khuzaymah, Hadith: 2791

Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 1, pg. 460-461

Al-Mu’jamul Awsat of Tabarani, Hadith: 2696

Imam Ibn Khuzaymah (rahimahullah)-among others-, expressed reservation in this narration being authentic because of the condition of a particular narrator.

‘Allamah Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami (rahimahullah) has cited the Andalusian Scholar [Muhammad] Ibn Masdy (rahimahullah) to have reported this with a different chain, and that he declared this narration as sound (hasan gharib).

(Hashiyah ‘ala Sharhil Idah fil Manasik, pg. 33-34. Also see Targhib, vol. 2, pg. 166-167 and Al-Matjarur Rabih, Hadith: 816)

Translation

Zadhan (rahimahullah) narrates that ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) got very sick, so his children and family gathered around him, then he narrated:

‘I heard Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) saying:

“Whoever walks for Haj from Makkah, for each step he is given 700 rewards from the rewards of the Haram, until he returns.”

So a man said, O Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) what is the rewards of the Haram?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) replied: “Each good deed equals to 1000 good deeds.”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
