Question

Kindly translate the following narration and provide the grading:

كَانَ النَّبِىُّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- إِذَا رَكَعَ بَسَطَ ظَهْرَهُ، وَإِذَا سَجَدَ وَجَّهَ أَصَابِعَهُ قِبَلَ الْقِبْلَةِ فَتَفَاج

Answer

Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Bara (radiyallahu ‘anhu) with a slightly weak chain.

(As Sunanul Kubra, vol. 2, pg. 113. Also see Ad Dirayah of Hafiz Ibn Hajar, Hadith: 160 and Nasbur Rayah, vol. 1, pg. 374 for a similar supporting narration)

Translation

When Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would make ruku’ he would spread/straighten his back and when he would make sajdah, he would face his fingers towards the qiblah, keeping his feet apart.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
