Could you reference this narration?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“The example of a hypocrite is that of a sheep which roams between two flocks [looking to mate], going to one at one time and to the other at another time.”

 

Answer

Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2784)

When a munafiq is with the believers, he claims to be with them and when with the disbelievers, he claims to be with them. He follows his whims and desires and is not settled, just as the sheep roaming around from flock to flock looking to mate.

(Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 8158)

(٣٦٨٤) – حدثني محمد بن عبد الله بن نمير، حدثنا أبي، ح وحدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة، حدثنا أبو أسامة، قالا: حدثنا عبيد الله، ح وحدثنا محمد بن المثنى – واللفظ له – أخبرنا عبد الوهاب يعني الثقفي، حدثنا عبيد الله، عن نافع، عن ابن عمر، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: «مثل المنافق، كمثل الشاة العائرة بين الغنمين تعير إلى هذه مرة وإلى هذه مرة».

فيض القدير:
(٨١٥٨) – فكذا المنافق لا يستقر بالمسلمين ولا بالكافرين بل يقول لكل منهم أنا منكم قال الطيبي: شبه تردده بين المؤمنين والكافرين تبعا لهواه وقصدا لأغراضه الفاسدة كتردد الشاة الطالبة للفحل فلا تستقر على حال.
