Question

Is the following Hadith in Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah (Hadith: 2461) regarding raf’ul yadayn authentic?

حدثنا وكيع وأبو أسامة ، عن شعبة ، عن أبي إسحاق ، قال : كان أصحاب عبد الله ، وأصحاب علي لا يرفعون أيديهم إلا في افتتاح الصلاة ، قال وكيع : ثم لا يعودون

 

Answer

Imam Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration.

Abu Ishaq (rahimahullah) said: “The students of ‘Abdullah [ibn Mas’ud] and ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) would raise their hands only at the beginning of Salah.” Waki’ (rahimahullah) added: “And thereafter, they would not raise their hands again.”

‘Allamah ‘Ala-ud Din Ibnut Turkumani (rahimahullah) has declared the chain authentic.

وقال ايضا ثنا وكيع وابو اسامة عن شعبة عن ابى اسحاق قال كان اصحاب عبد الله واصحاب على لا يرفعون ايديهم الا في افتتاح الصلوة قال وكيع ثم لا يعودون وهذا ايضا سند صحيح جليل.
