Question
Is this Hadith authentic?
‘Amr ibnul ‘As narrated:
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) deputed me to lead the army of Dhatus Salasil. I came to him and said, “Who is the most beloved person to you?” He said, “‘Aaishah.” I asked, “Among the men?” He said, “Her father. I said, “Who then?” He said, “Then Umar ibnul Khattab.”
Answer
Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith in his Sahih. The Hadith is therefore authentic.
Sayyiduna ‘Amr ibnul ‘As (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported: Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) appointed me as the leader in the battle of Dhatus Salasil. I came to him and asked, “Who is the most beloved person to you?” He replied, “‘Aaishah.” I said, “From among the men?” He replied, “Her father.” I asked, “Who then?” He replied, “‘Umar ibnul Khattab.” He then named some other men.
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3662)
