Imam Shafi’i (rahimahullah) said: “Conceal your hardship so much so the people presume you are blessed and have an easy life”
Answer
Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has cited this statement of Imam Shafi’i (rahimahullah).
Imam Shafi’i (rahimahullah) said: “The true beauty of man lies in three things: “Concealing poverty so much that others mistaken your abstention from begging as affluence, restraining anger so much that others perceive that you are happy and enduring and concealing hardship so much that people think you are living in comfort.”
