عن عمارة بن أبي حفصة قال: دخل مسلمة بن عبد الملك على عمر بن عبد العزيز يعوده، فقال لأخته، فاطمة: إني أرى أمير المؤمنين، قد أصبح باريا فلو غيرتم ثيابه فسكتت عنه ثم أعاد عليها. فقالت: والله ما لأمير المؤمنين قميص غيره

Answer

This narration is recorded by Imam Abu Bakr ibn Abid Dunya in his book, ‘Islahul Mal’.

(Islahul Mal, narration: 406)

Translation

Maslamah ibn ‘Abdil Malik (rahimahullah) once went to visit ‘Umar ibn ‘Abdil ‘Aziz (rahimahullah). He said to Fatimah, ‘Umar’s (rahimahumallah) sister, ‘I see that the Amirul Muminin has recovered [from his illness], why don’t you change his garments?’ She remained silent. When he repeated the question, she replied, ‘By Allah! The Leader of the Believers does not own any other upper garment.'”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
