Can I quote this narration?

لا حظ لأحد في الإسلام أضاع الصلاة

 

Answer

Imam ‘Abdur Razzaq and Imam Abu Bakr Ibn Abi Shaybah (rahimahumallah) have recorded this as the statement of Sayyiduna ‘Umar ibnul Khattab (radiyallahu ‘anhu). The narration may be quoted as such.

Sayyiduna Miswar ibn Makhramah (radiyallahu anhu) and Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu anhuma) visited Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radiyallahu anhu) after he had been stabbed. They reminded him about Salah. He replied, “There is no share in Islam for the one who neglects Salah.” He then performed the Salah while his wound continued to bleed profusely.

The narration is also recorded in Muwatta Imam Malik with slight variation in the wording.

(٥٧٩) – عبد الرزاق، عن الثوري، عن هشام بن عروة، عن أبيه قال: حدثني سليمان بن يسار، أن المسور بن مخرمة، أخبره قال: دخلت أنا وابن عباس على عمر حين طعن فقلنا: الصلاة. فقال: إنه لا حظ لأحد في الإسلام أضاع الصلاة. فصلى وجرحه يثعب دما.

مصنف ابن أبي شيبة: (٦٠١/١٥)
(٣٠٩٩٨) – حدثنا ابن نمير , قال : حدثنا هشام ، عن أبيه ، عن المسور بن مخرمة ، وابن عباس أنهما دخلا على عمر حين طعن ، فقالا : الصلاة ، فقال : إنه لا حظ لأحد في الإسلام أضاع الصلاة. فصلى وجرحه يثعب دما.

موطأ مالك:
(٩٣) – مالك، عن هشام بن عروة، عن أبيه، أن المسور بن مخرمة، أخبره، أنه دخل على عمر بن الخطاب من الليلة التي طعن فيها. فأيقظ عمر لصلاة الصبح. فقال عمر: نعم. ولا حظ في الإسلام لمن ترك الصلاة. فصلى عمر، وجرحه يثعب دما.
