Question

Is the following narration reliable:

Translation

During the second term, ‘Uqbah went from Kairouan with a huge army towards the West, conquering our forts and many cities, continuing Far West until he reached Tangier, then he rode to Susul Aqsa so that he can meet the ocean, when he arrived at the ocean he dipped his horse into it and he said these famous words:

“O Allah bear witness that I have made an asserted effort, if it was not for this sea I would continue fighting disbelief on the land until none is worshiped besides you.”

Answer

‘Uqbah ibn Nafi’ (rahimahullah) was a reliable Tabi’i.

I haven’t seen a chain for this, however such incidents of history are suitable when cited by reliable sources like the one in your question.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
