Question
With regards to the comprehensive du’a of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), I have come across the following narration:
(Aladabul Mufrad, Hadith: 679)
I would like to know if this du’a has appeared in any narrations with the following wording:
Answer
Imams Tirmidhi and others (rahimahumullah) have recorded this du’a with slight variation in the wording.
(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3521, Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 3846, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 6 pg. 147, and Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 7791. Also see: Al-Adhkar, Hadith: 1181 and 1185, and Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 10 pg. 179-180)
The wording sought for, as per the question above, has appeared in the following sources:
- Al-Adhkar, Hadith: 1181 (cited from Sunan Tirmidhi)
- Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3521
It is possible that, this is how it appeared in the copy of Tirmidhi that Imam Nawawi (rahimahullah) used.
And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
