Is this famous Hadith authentic?

من لم يشكر الناس لم يشكر الله

“He who is not grateful to people, is not grateful to Allah”

 

Answer

Imam Tirmidhi and Imam Ahmad (rahimahumallah) have recorded this Hadith. Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith sound (hasan).

The Hadith has also been recorded with the following words:

1)

من لا يشكر الناس لا يشكر الله

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1954, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 3, pg. 74. Imam Tirmidhi has declared this authentic –sahih-)

2)

لا يشكر الله من لا يشكر الناس

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 4778, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 2, pg. 295, Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 3407)
