Question

I would like to know the reference for the following Hadith:

Ramadan began and Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “This month has come and in it there is a night that is better than one thousand months. Whoever is deprived of [doing good in this month] is deprived of all goodness and no one is deprived of its goodness except one who is truly deprived.”

 

Answer

Imam Ibn Majah (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 1644)

‘Allamah Mundhiri (rahimahullah) states, “The chain is sound (hasan) insha Allah.”

(Targhib, vol. 2, pg. 99)

سنن ابن ماجه:
(١٦٤٤) – حدثنا أبو بدر عباد بن الوليد، حدثنا محمد بن بلال، حدثنا عمران القطان، عن قتادة عن أنس بن مالك، قال: دخل رمضان، فقال رسول الله  صلى الله عليه وسلم : «إن هذا الشهر قد حضركم، وفيه ليلة خير من ألف شهر، من حرمها فقد حرم الخير كله، ولا يحرم خيرها إلا محروم».

الترغيب والترهيب للمنذري: (٢/ ٩٩)
وعن أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه قال: «دخل رمضان، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: إن هذا الشهر قد حضركم، وفيه ليلة  خير من ألف شهر من حرمها فقد حرم الخير كله، ولا يحرم خيرها إلا محروم». رواه ابن ماجه. وإسناده حسن إن شاء الله تعالى.
