Question

Is this Hadith authentic?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Indeed, Jannah desires three [people]; ‘Ali, ‘Ammar, and Salman (radiyallahu ‘anhum).”

 

Answer

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) and other Muhaddithun have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3797)

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith sound (hasanun gharib). Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic and ‘Allamah Dhahabi concurs.

سنن الترمذي:
(٣٧٩٧) – حدثنا سفيان بن وكيع قال: حدثنا أبي، عن الحسن بن صالح، عن أبي ربيعة الإيادي، عن الحسن، عن أنس بن مالك، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «إن الجنة تشتاق إلى ثلاثة: علي، وعمار، وسلمان». هذا حديث حسن غريب لا نعرفه إلا من حديث الحسن بن صالح.

المستدرك للحاكم: (٣/ ١٣٧)
حدثنا أبو بكر بن إسحاق، أنبأ محمد بن عيسى بن السكن الواسطي، حدثنا شهاب بن عباد، حدثنا محمد بن بشر، حدثنا الحسن بن حي، عن أبي ربيعة الأيادي، عن الحسن، عن أنس قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم «اشتاقت الجنة إلى ثلاثة علي وعمار وسلمان».
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يخرجاه.
