Is this Hadith authentic?

عن زر بن حبيش، أن ابن مسعود كان قائما يصلي، فلما بلغ رأس المئة من النساء، أخذ يدعو، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: سل تعطه، ثلاثا، فقال: اللهم إني أسألك إيمانا لا يرتد، ونعيما لا ينفد، ومرافقة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم في أعلى جنة الخلد

 

Answer

Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith in his Sahih and has declared the Hadith authentic.

Zirr ibn Hubaysh relates that ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) was once offering Salah. When he reached Verse 100 of Surah An Nisa he began to make du’a. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) told him, “Ask and you will be granted” thrice. He said,

اللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ إِيمَانًا لاَ يَرْتَدُّ، وَنَعِيمًا لاَ يَنْفَدُ، وَمُرَافَقَةَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلى الله عَلَيه وسَلم فِي أَعْلَى جَنَّةِ الْخُلْدِ

Allahumma inni as-aluka Imanan la yartad wa na’iman la yanfad wa murafaqata Muhammadin sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam fi a’ala Jannatil khuld

Translation: O Allah! I ask you for Iman that does not retrogress, bounties that do not deplete and the companionship of Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) in the highest levels of the eternal Jannah.”
