subhanallahil azeemi wa bi hamdihi

Rasulullah (sallalhu ‘alayhi wasallam) has said the reciter’s 100,000 sins will be forgiven and in addition 24,000 of his/her parents’ sins will also be forgiven.

سبحان الله العظیم و بحمدہ

Answer

This Hadith is found in Ibnus sunni (like you have stated) and in Al-Firdaws of Imam Dailami (rahimahullah).

(‘Amalul Yawmi Wal Laylah, hadith: 377, Kanzul ‘Ummal, Hadith: 21321 & ِAl Ajwibatul Mardiyyah, vol. 1 pg. 290. Also see the manuscript of ‘Amalul Yawmi Wal Laylah: 42/a- Darul Kutubil Misriyyah).

‘Allamah Zabidi (rahimahullah) has cited several other similar Hadiths in support of this one in his commentary to Ihya-‘Ulumid din, (vol.3 pg.272-273 )

Among them is the following:

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu’anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alaihi wasallam) said:

“Whoever recites: “subhanallahi wa bi hamdihi” will receive one hundred and twenty four thousand rewards”

(Al-Mu’jamul Kabeer li Tabarani; see Majma’uz Zawaid, vol,10 pg.87)

After citing other such narrations, Imam Zabidi (rahimahullah) writes: “Although these narrations do not all specify Friday, they do however support the virtue of (this) Tasbih” (Sharhul Ihya, vol.3 pg.273)

When reciting this tasbih, one should aspire for all the rewards that are promised for it.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
