Question

What is the authenticity of the following Hadith?

Sayyiduna Abud Darda (radiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

‘Whosoever offers two rak’ahs of Salatud Duha (chasht) cannot be counted among the indolent. One who offers four rak’ahs is among the devotees. Those who offer six rak’ahs at chasht are made immune from all the worries for the whole day. Those who offer eight rak’ahs are recorded among the pious. One offering twelve rak’ahs has his house built in Jannah.

Answer

This Hadith is recorded by Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) in his Al-Mu’jamul Kabir. The Hadith is well corroborated and is suitable to quote.

Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) states: ‘It’s chain has a bit of weakness (fi isnadihi da’f).

‘Allamah Mundhiri (rahimahullah) writes:

“This is reported by several Sahabah (radiyallahu ‘anhum) with various chains. In my knowledge, this one [in question] has the best chain.”
