Are these words authentically attributed to Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu)?

روي عن علي بن أبي طالب كرم الله وجهه أنه قال من جمع ست خصال لم يدع للجنة مطلبا ولا عن النار مهربا أولها من عرف الله فأطاعه والثانية من عرف الشيطان فعصاه والثالثة من عرف الحق فاتبعه والرابعة من عرف الباطل فاجتنبه والخامسة من عرف الدنيا فأعرض عنهاوالسادسة من عرف الجنة فطلبها فالله الله عباد الله اجتهدوا في طاعة الرحمن الرحيم

 

Answer

I have not come across this narration in any primary source. This has been cited and attributed to Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) in Tambihul Ghafilin, Ihya ‘Ulumid Din and Bustanul Wa’izin.

‘Allamah Zabidi (rahimahullah) has referenced this narration to Dhammud Dunya of Imam Abu Bakr Ibn Abid Dunya, but I have been unable to locate it therein.
