What is the status of this narration?

من تعلم القرآن وعلق مصحفه لم يتعاهده ولم ينظر فيه جاء يوم القيامة متعلقا به يقول يا رب العالمين إن عبدك هذا اتخذني مهجورا فاقض بيني وبينه

Answer

This narration is recorded in certain Tafsir books. However, Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) has declared one of the narrators a liar.

The narration is therefore not suitable to quote. See suitable alternatives here.

Translation

Whosoever learns the Quran, and abandons it, neglects it, nor does he look into it, the Quran will come on the Day of Qiyamah with this person and say, “O Rabb of the worlds! This slave of yours abandoned me, so decide our case.”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
