A query regarding a weak narrator in Sunan Tirmidhi

Question

In your answer here, you have stated that Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith weak. But how is that when all the narrators are in Bukhari and Muslim?

Answer

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has certainly declared the Hadith in question weak. He has also mentioned that the narrator, ‘Abdur Rahman ibn Abi Bakr has been deemed weak due to his [weak] memory. (يضعّف من قبل حفظه)

This narrator’s full name is ‘Abdur Rahman ibn Abi Bakr ibn ‘Ubaydillah ibn Abi Mulaykah At Taymi. He has been declared weak by other Muhaddithun as well, like Imam Abu Hatim and Imam Nasai (rahimahumallah).

Imams Bukhari and Muslim (rahimahumallah) have not reported Hadith from him. His Hadiths only appear in Sunan Tirmidhi and Sunan Ibn Majah (from the Sihah Sittah).
