Question

Is this narration reliable?

‘Abdullah ibn Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) relates that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

لا ينظر الله إلى رجل أتى رجلا أو امرأة في الدبر

“Allah shall not [even] look [with kindness] at any man who enters another man or a woman in the anus.” Tirmidhi

Answer

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration and has declared it sound (hasanun gharib).

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Allah will not look at [mercifully] towards a man who engages in anal intercourse with a man or a woman.”

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1165)

Muhaddith ‘Abdul Haqq Ad Dehlawi states that in this Hadith, engaging with anal intercourse with a ‘man’ has been mentioned first as it is a greater [sin] and more strictly prohibited.

(Lama’atut Tanqih, Hadith: 3195)
