Question

What is the status of this Hadith?

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيُّ الإِيمَانِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ : ” الصَّبْرُ وَالسَّمَاحَةُ ” ، قِيلَ : فَأَيُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَكْمَلُ إِيمَانًا ؟ قَالَ : ” أَحْسَنُهُمْ خُلُقًا

Translation

O Rasulullah! Which ‘Which type of Iman is best’? Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) replied, “Exercising patience and overlooking/pardoning”. It was then asked, ‘Which Believer has the perfect Iman? Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) replied, “Those who have the best character”

 

Answer

Imam Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith in his Musannaf and Musnad. Hafiz ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) has graded the chain of narrators as sound (hasan)
