Forgiving someone who caused a bodily injury

Is this narration authentic?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“No one suffers any bodily injury, yet forgives this [forgives the person who injured him and does not take retribution], except that Allah raises his rank by a degree and removes a sin from him.”

Imams Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah (rahimahumallah) have recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Darda (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1393, Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 2693)

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has declared this Hadith weak. However, Imam Ahmad (rahimahullah) has also recorded this narration with a different chain, on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Ubadah ibn Samit (radiyallahu ‘anhu). The narration is further supported by Quranic Verses. (Surah Al Maidah, Verse: 45)

(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 5 pg. 316)

The narration is question is well corroborated and suitable to quote.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
