Where did Imam Ghazali (rahimahullah) say this?

Imam Ghazali says: “Do not befriend a wrongdoer who persists in committing a major transgression, because someone who fears Allah would not persist in committing major transgressions.”

Answer

Imam Ghazali (rahimahullah) has mentioned this in his book Bidayatul Hidayah.

He writes: “Do not befriend an open sinner who persists in committing major sins, for one who fears Allah would not persist in committing major sins. You cannot be safe from the danger of one who does not fear Allah. Such a person changes as his personal interests change.”

(Bidayatul Hidayah, pg. 246)

Imam Ghazali (rahimahullah) has expressed similar sentiments in his Ihya.
