What is the authenticity of the following Hadith:

ادّبني ربي فاحسن تاديبي

My Rabb has educated/nurtured me and has perfected my conduct

Answer

This narration is recorded in Kitabul Amthal of Al ‘Askari and other collections. The chains have varied degrees of weakness.

‘Allamah Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) states, “The meaning of the narration is correct, however, there is no reliable chain of narrators.” (المعنى صحيح لكن لا يعرف له اسناد ثابت).

‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) has cited the various chains and versions of this Hadith. He then quotes this statement of Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) and has concurred.
