Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) feared three things for this ummah

Could you please provide the original text as well as the suitability of the following?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Indeed I fear upon my Ummah three things during the end of times; Belief with the stars, denial of Qadar (Destiny), and oppressive rulers.”

This Hadith is recorded in Musnad Ahmad -Zawaid ‘Abdullah-, Musnad Bazzar, Musnad Abi Ya’la and Tabarani.

The wording is as follows:

ثلاث أخاف على أمتي: استسقاء بالأنواء، وحيف السلطان، وتكذيب بالقدر

Sayyiduna Jabir ibn Samurah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that he heard Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) say: “I fear three things for my ummah; Seeking water through the stars/believing that rain falls due to certain stars being present, oppressive rulers and denying taqdir (destiny).”

(Musnad Ahmad; Zawaid ‘Abdullah, vol. 5 pg. 90, Hadith: 20832, Musnad Bazzar, Hadith: 4288, Musnad Abi Ya’la, Hadith: 7462 and 7470. Refer: Hashiyatus Sindhi ‘Alal Musnadil Imam Ahmad, vol. 5 pg. 106)

This particular version of the Hadith is extremely weak.

(Refer: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 7 pg. 203 and Mizanul I’tidal, vol. 4 pg. 242, number: 7599)

The subject matter of this Hadith is however supported.

The following versions are suitable to quote:

1) Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “I fear five things after my [demise]; Denying taqdir and believing the stars.” (Note: Although this Hadith states ‘five things’, only two have been enumerated)

(Musnad Abi Ya’la, Hadith: 4135. Refer: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 7 pg. 203)

2) Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Among the things I fear the most for my ummah towards the end of times are; Stars [i.e. Them believing that certain stars bring rain], denying taqdir and oppressive rulers.”

(Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 8113. Refer: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 7 pg. 203. Also see: Al Matalibul ‘Aliyah, under Hadith: 749 and 2950)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
