Question

What is the reference for this Hadith?

Salma, the servant of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “Whenever someone would complain of a headache to the Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) he (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would advise them to perform Hijama.”

Answer

Imam Abu Dawud (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration.

Sayyidah Salma, the servant of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Whenever anyone complained to Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) that they were experiencing headaches, he instructed them undergo cupping…”

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 3854)

(٣٨٥٤) – حدثنا محمد بن الوزير الدمشقي، حدثنا يحيى بن حسان، حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن أبي الموالي، حدثنا فائد مولى عبيد الله بن علي بن أبي رافع، عن مولاه عبيد الله بن علي بن أبي رافع، عن جدته سلمى خادم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قالت: ما كان أحد يشتكي إلى رسول الله  صلى الله عليه وسلم  وجعًا في رأسه إلا قال: «احتجم»، ولا وجعًا في رجليه إلا قال: «اخضبهما».
