Question

Is there a Hadith about Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) saying that he will intercede for those who reply to the adhan?

Answer

Yes.

Sayyiduna Jabir (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said:

‘Whoever recites the following du’a when [after] he hears the adhan will definitely receive my intercession [on the day of Qiyamah].

The du’a is:

اَللّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعوَةِ التَّامَّةِ، وَالصَّلَاةِ القَائِمَةِ، آتِ مُحَمَّدًانِ الوَسِيلَةَ وَالفَضِيلَةَ، وَابعَثهُ مَقَامًا مَّحمُودَانِ الَّذِي وَعَدتَهُ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخلِفُ المِيعِاد

Allahumma Rabba hadhi hid da’watit tammah was salatil qa-imah ati Muhammadanil wasilata wal fadilah, wab ‘ath hu maqamam mahmuda nil-ladhi wa’adtahu, innaka la tukhliful mi’ad.

Translation:

O Allah, Rabb of this perfect call and established prayer. Grant Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) the intercession and favour and raise him to the honoured station You have promised him. Verily you do not neglect promises.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 614 and As-Sunanul Kubra of Bayhaqi, vol.1 pg.410)

Note: The last part of the du’a that is in bold is from Bayhaqi.
