Answer

This narration is recorded by Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) in Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 3780.

Imam Bayhaqi states that this text is not reported with another chain (matn gharib), and that this chain does not have any fabricators.

‘Allamah Mundhiri (rahimahullah) has included it in his Targhib and thereby deemed it suitable.

Hafiz Dimyati (rahimahullah) has also cited this while indicating to its weakness.

(Targhib, Hadith: 1744 and Al-Matjarur Rabih, Hadith: 789. Also see Tanzihush Shariah, vol.2 pg.172)

The Hadith may be practiced upon.

Translation

Sayyiduna Jabir ibn ‘Abdillah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:

‘Any Muslim who stands on the eve of ‘Arafah in the spot of wuquf [in ‘arafah] facing the direction of the Qiblah and then says hundred times:

La ilaha illahu wahdahu la shrika lahu lahul mulku walahul hamdu wahuwa ‘ala kuli shayin qadhur

Followed by one hundred times Surah Ikhlas, and a hundred times:

Allah Ta’ala says:

‘O My Angels, what is the reward for My servant for this? He has glorified Me, testified My oneness, mentioned My greatness, honored Me, recognised Me, commended Me and sent salutations upon My Prophet, bear witness My Angels that I have forgiven him and granted him intercession and if he interceded on behalf of all these people standing here I would grant it to him’

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
