What is the reference for this quote? Kindly provide the Arabic text as well.

“Make the obedience of Allah your job; you’ll earn profits without having to sell anything.”

 

Answer

Imam Ahmad (rahimahullah) has recorded this quote on the authority of Malik ibn Dinar (rahimahullah).

Malik ibn Dinar (rahimahullah) reported that Luqman, the wise, advised his son saying, “O my beloved son, Make the obedience of Allah your job, you will yield dividends without the need for any merchandise.”

(Az Zuhd of Imam Ahmad: 269)

In some sources this has been recorded as the statement of Malik ibn Dinar (rahimahullah).
