Can this be quoted?

Yazid Ibn Abi Habib states that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) passed two women who were performing their prayers. He said to them: “When you prostrate, make part of your body touch the ground because a woman is unlike a man in these aspects.”

Answer

This Hadith is mursal (wherein a Tabi’i reports directly from Nabi -sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). It is reported with a reliable chain to the Tabi’i in question; Yazid ibn Abi Habib (rahimahullah) and can be quoted.

Note: Mursal narrations that have reliable chains may be quoted, according to the majority of Fuqaha (Jurists) and several Muhaddithun.

(ثم المرسل حديث ضعيف) لا يحتج به (عند جماهير المحدثين) كما حكاه عنهم مسلم في صدر صحيحه، وابن عبد البر في التمهيد وحكاه الحاكم عن ابن المسيب ومالك (وكثير من الفقهاء وأصحاب الأصول) والنظر، للجهل بحال المحذوف لأنه يحتمل أن يكون غير صحابي وإذا كان كذلك: فيحتمل أن يكون ضعيغا وإن اتفق أن يكون المرسل لا يروى إلا عن ثقة: فالتوثيق مع الإبهام غير كاف كما سيأتي ولأنه إذا كان المجهول المسمَّى لا يُقبل فالمجهولُ عينًا وحالاً أولى. ( وقال مالك ) في المشهور عنه (وأبو حنيفة في طائفةٍ) منهم أحمدُ في المشهور عنه (صحيح).
