Question

Is this narration suitable to quote?

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: من قرأ القرآن وحمد الرب، وصلى على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، واستغفر ربه فقد طلب الخير مكانه

Answer

Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Whomsoever recites Quran, extols Allah, sends salutations [durud] upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), seeks forgiveness from his Rabb then he has sought good from the [correct avenues].”

(Shu’abul Iman, 1917)

‘Allamah Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has declared one of the narrators weak. ‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) has also declared the chain weak.

(Al Qawlul Badi’, pg. 280)

The Hadith is suitable to quote to encourage carrying out the deeds mentioned therein as is the case with Hadiths of this nature.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
