What is the authenticity of the following narration?

من أدى إلى أمتي حديثا واحدا يقيم به سنة أو يرد به بدعة فله الجنة

Whoever leads my Ummah to one Hadith which is used to establish a sunnah or refute a bid’ah, then for him is Jannah.

 

Answer

‘Allamah Suyuti (rahimahullah) has referenced this to Imam Hakim’s (rahimahullah) Kitabul Arba’in.

My Esteemed Teacher, Al-Muhaddith Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah (hafizahullah) states:

“[This book] is not published. However, it is also in Hilyah (vol. 10, pg. 44) with a chain that has

a) Ismail ibn Yahya At-Taymi who has been suspected of lying by several Scholars.

b) The chain also has Layth ibn Abi Sulaym who lost his memory (ikhtalat jiddan).”

The chain is therefore very very weak.

One should rather quote other reliable Hadiths on this topic.
