Salman’s Al Farisi (radiyallahu ‘anhu) expresses extreme dislike to see the private area of a Muslim

Could you kindly provide a reference for this narration?

لأن أموت ثم أنشر ثم أموت ثم أنشر ثم أموت ثم أنشر أحب إلي من أن أرى عورة مسلم أو يراها مني

 

Answer

This narration is recorded as the statement of Sayyiduna Salman Al Farisi (radiyallahu’anhu) in Kitabuz Zuhd of Imam Ahmad ibn Hambal (rahimahullah). Imam ‘Abdur Razzaq (rahimahullah) has recorded a longer version of this narration.

(Kitabuz Zuhd of Imam Ahmad: 835 and Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq: 1109)

 

Translation

Sayyiduna Salman Al Farisi (radiyallahu ‘anhu) said: “It is more beloved to me to pass away and be resurrected [and for this to occur thrice] than to see the private parts [‘awrah] of a Muslim or my private parts be seen.”

 

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
