What is the reference for these words of Iblis?

ايئسوا أن تردوا أمة محمد على الشرك بعد يومكم هذا

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) as part of a longer narration.

On the Day of The Conquest of Makkah, Shaytan wailed/shrieked and said to his army: “Lose all hope in making the ummah of Muhammad polytheists after today…”

(١٢٣١٨) – حدثنا عبدان بن أحمد، ثنا عمر بن العباس الرازي، ثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي، ثنا يعقوب القمي، عن جعفر بن أبي المغيرة، عن سعيد بن جبير، عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال: «لما افتتح النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مكة رن إبليس رنة اجتمعت إليه جنوده، فقال: ايئسوا أن نريد أمة محمد على الشرك بعد يومكم هذا، ولكن افتنوهم في دينهم، وأفشوا فيهم النوح».
