إن العبد ليكذب الكذبة فيتباعد الملك منه ميلا أو ميلين مما جاء به
Answer
Imam Abu Bakr Ibn Abid Dunya (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).
Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reported that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “When a person speaks a lie, the angels move away a distance of one or two miles due to the [stench] that emanates from that [lie].”
(As Samt Wa Adabul Lisan, Hadith: 480)
Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has also recorded the Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma). This version of the narration states “one mile.” See here
There is no contradiction between the two, as is evident.

(٤٨٠) – حدثني أبو محمد عبد الله بن أيوب المخرمي، حدثنا عبد الرحيم بن هارون أبو هشام الغساني، عن عبد العزيز بن أبي رواد، عن نافع، عن ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما رفعه قال: «إن العبد ليكذب الكذبة فيتباعد الملك منه ميلا أو ميلين، مما جاء به».
سنن الترمذي:
(١٩٧٢) – حدثنا يحيى بن موسى، قال: قلت لعبد الرحيم بن هارون الغساني، حدثكم عبد العزيز بن أبي رواد، عن نافع، عن ابن عمر، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «إذا كذب العبد تباعد عنه الملك ميلا من نتن ما جاء به»؟ قال يحيى: فأقر به عبد الرحيم بن هارون، فقال: نعم.
هذا حديث حسن غريب لا نعرفه إلا من هذا الوجه تفرد به عبد الرحيم بن هارون.
