Answer
This is recorded in Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah as the statement of Abus Siddiq, Bakr ibn ‘Amr An-Naji (rahimahullah) – a reliable Tabi’i- with a weak chain.
(Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 30101 and 35414)
Historical reports like these may be quoted despite their weak chains.
(Hukmul ‘amal bil Hadithid Da’if, pg. 206-207 and pg. 122-123)
Translation
Abus Siddiq narrates that Nabi Sulayman ibn Dawud (‘alayhis salam) came out with the people to pray for rain. He passed by an ant lying on its back, its legs raised to the sky whilst it was saying:
‘O Allah! We are a creation from Your creations and are dependent on Your sustenance. [O Allah] either sustain us or destroy us.’
Sulayman (‘alayhis salam) said to the people, return for you [will] receive rainfall due to the du’a of others.
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
